Don't Miss the Grad Artist Talks

This year’s Grad Artist Talks in the Fleet Library have been amazing opportunities to learn about diverse practices on important themes from students ready to share.

On January 29, Avrie Allen (GD), Disha Dharesh (ID), and Lucy Luckovich (PT) shared their work and spoke on the night’s themes of Sex, Sexuality, and Gender. Avrie presented on integrating cognitive and bodily sense from a feminist perspective, Disha on reviving sex ed in Indic childhood education, and Lucy on navigating desire in the post-AI slop age. Here they are after their individual talks, taking questions from the crowd.

Back in November, Manuela Guzman (IL), Yuval Gur (D+M), and Mary Ritchie (LDAR) presented on the themes of Nature, Ecologies, and Sustainability. Manuela shared her sketchbook drawings and writings on insects. Yuval shared the sounds of nature—birds, whales, singing trees. And Mary shared her experiments with clay sourced from the beach at RISD’s Tillinghast Farm in Barrington. All three illuminated pathways to connection with the more-than-human.

Grads: Keep an eye out to apply for the third night of talks, on Speech, Power, and Personhood, scheduled for March 12.
